Gender Inequality at the Root of most Injustices Against Women

“These rapists are not the disease, they are the symptoms. When a girl is less welcome than a boy when they are born…When a boy is given more nourishment than a girl. When a girl is sent as a domestic slave to her husband’s home…. If a woman no value. If a woman is worth less than a man, it stands to reason that they (men) will do what they want with her.

Gender inequality is the (root of the) problem. Gender equality is the only solution. Gender inequality is the primary cancer, rape, trafficking, honour killings and child marriage and acid attacks are the spread of that cancer.” – Leslee Udwin, maker of the banned documentary ‘ India’s daughter’.
