Last November, our social workers went to several slum areas recruiting more girls for our girls ashram/study centre. This is a facility where girls can study social work and gain job skills. When we got to the slum areas where people have no toilets and one tap for 100 people, we were told that all girls above 17 were married already. This shows the great need of what we do to break the cycle of poverty. But it also shows how far we still have to go to change mindsets about education and the potential of girls.
