just … a badminton racket

Today a young girl that we sponsor for school called prayatna came to me crying. I thought she was crying because it is so hard to live in a house with no windows and electricity in 45c heat and threatened with violence by her relatives who want to steal the land from under her and her widow mother. I let her calm down, and after a while she confessed she was crying because her friend had a badmington racket and she couldn’t play with them because she lacked one. Poverty can hurt in small ways as well as big ways. We are giving prayatna a future through education. But we are also giving her confidence, emotional support and yes, a badmington racket!
